The mode of transmission of sickle cell;

How parents transfer sickle cell abnormal genes?

What is the most serious form of sickle cell disease?

When parents are carriers of genes S, they transmit sickle cell disease to their children and the evil will be more severe than in the blood of the child, there will be a lot of red blood cells containing hemoglobin S, three possibilities may arise.

First possibility

1.    If a parent has an abnormal blood "AS" to fifty percent and the other a normal blood "AA" one hundred percent;
2.    They may have one child out of two with normal blood;
3.    And one child out of tow with fifty percent of abnormal blood.

Second possibility

1.    If the parents are each one S gene carriers and therefore fifty percent of normal blood and fifty percent of abnormal blood;
2.    Then three cases of transmission are possible, which are One out of four children will be healthy "AA";
3.    Two out of four children will have a blood combining gene A and the gene S, such carrier "AS" is heterozygous;
4.    A fourth child will be a hundred percent abnormal blood "SS";
5.    This type of carrier is said the true homozygous sickle.

Third possibility

1.    If both parents have an abnormal blood, containing one hundred percent of genes;
2.    All their children will automatically a hundred percent abnormal blood and harmful gene S will act therefore doubly.

Sickle cell anemia associated

1.    There is another form of sickle cell disease, said Associate in which each parent brings a different tare;
2.    Hemoglobin S combines with hemoglobin C, D, etc. then it is of type double heterozygous;
3.    The two most serious forms of the disease are type SS and SC, which, unfortunately, are in Africa about three to four percent of sickle cell anemia;
4.    But anemia resulting from double heterozygous form appears less severe than that of the SS form.

Simple sickle cell

1.    When a child carries only hemoglobin S, the disease does not appear, it is a simple sickle cell disease;
2.    AS subjects are not so strictly speaking sickles;
3.    They can live a long, and diseases they suffer are those related to poor nutrition, poor lifestyle or infections that can affect anyone in normal blood.
