Hydrotherapy applications for rheumatism;
Practicing outpatient care of rheumatism;
What is outpatient care?
Outpatient
care consists of certain practices, such as hydrotherapy, massage in
friction, and in various applications of poultices, and then regular exercise, and see different cures.
Hydrotherapy:
1. Cold seat bath; it promotes pain relief
and elimination of toxins by strengthening the natural defense.
2. To practice seat bath, pour about 10 liters
of cold water at almost 18-20 degree Celsius in a large bowl.
3. In the morning you leave the bed, undress
and sit in the water by dipping only the buttocks.
4. Stay in the bath for 4 to 5 minutes.
5. Then get up and cover the body, back to bed
if necessary.
6. Wait a while before washing.
Applying warm compresses:
1. The fomentation reduces pain quickly.
2. To do this, dip a towel in hot water.
3. Remove the towel and wring well to extract
water.
4. Fold the towel in four folded and apply by
pressing the painful joints.
5. Once it cools, start again in two to three
minutes for about fifteen minutes.
6. The fomentation can be made two to three
times daily.
Warm foot bath to activate the circulation:
1. Boil in fifteen minutes two handfuls of red
vine leaves in two liters of water.
2. Pour this concoction in a large bucket half
filled with cold water to adjust the temperature.
3. Dip the feet, hands, and hold them there for
15-20 minutes.
4. The solution can be used two or three times
before being renewed.
Massages and frictions with camphorated oil and garlic:
1. After hot fomentation if necessary, we can
proceed to massage the joints and affected parties by arthritis with pain and
down the spine circularly to other places with the flat of hand.
2. To prepare this massage, mix two or four
tablespoons of camphor oil and one or two tablespoons of crushed garlic in a
pot.
3. Use this mixture to a gentle and prolonged
massage.
4. We can add to the camphor oil natural plant
essences like eucalyptus, pine, mint, pepper, juniper and terebenthen.
5. The camphor oil can be found in pharmacies.
Clay poultices:
1. It is a remedy of choice for calming
inflamed joints or nerve pathways, congested and painful joints to regenerate
degraded articulations.
2. Put Pieces of crushed clay in a container,
but not metal or plastic.
3. Cover the clay with cold water and let
standing at least one to two hours.
4. Stir well the clay by a wooden spoon and
knead it.
5. Use a piece of cloth folded in four and a
wide spread uniform layer of two to four inches thick.
6. Start with poultices quite thin, leaving in
place shortly about an hour.
7. Apply the clay into direct contact with the
skin sore spots.
8. In the case of infectious rheumatism, clay
will be applied cold.
9. In chronic rheumatism, poultices of clay are
laid hot.
10. They
must be removed when feeling an internal cooling.
11. The
use of clay needs to be continued for a long time to get good results.
12. The
clay may be heated in a water bath, either in making the clay on the turned lid
of a pot or pot containing water.
Cabbage leaf poultice:
1. External application, cabbage treats
arthritis, rheumatism, gout, sciatica and neuralgia.
2. Cut the clove side of a sheet of green or
red cabbage.
3. Lay the sheet on a table; over roll the
sheet with a bottle without tearing it, the sheet extending one to two minutes
in boiling water.
4. Apply the heated sheet on the painful and
superimpose two other sheets not crushed.
5. Cover with a warm cloth and bandage.
6. Keep the dressing for several hours.
7. Repeat it once in the morning, at noon, and
at bed time.
8. It is possible to coat the inside of the
cabbage leaf crushed garlic mixed with olive oil before applying.
Poultices of cabbage leaf and onion:
1. This poultice is very effective in
congestion of the liver, hepatic, or renal impairment.
2. Finely chop two green leaves of cabbage and
two onions.
3. Putting them in a sauce pan, add four
handles of brand with a little of water.
4. Cook for five to ten minutes and stir well
to remove water.
5. Apply the mixture to a fabric scrim.
6. Fold the cloth and apply warm on affected parts.
7. Bandage to hold it in place at least two
hours.
Poultices of brand and ivy:
1. It is very useful for rheumatism, neuritis,
and sciatica.
2. Take four to five handles of brand and two
handles of ivy leaves, fresh or dried, cooked in water for eight minutes to
evaporate water.
3. Apply hot bandage and keep about two
hours.
