Eucalyptus is a plant native to Australia; there are several species of this plant, 
ranging from simple shrub to very large trees. Eucalyptus is a reference plant against 
respiratory infections, recognized for centuries for its medicinal properties; 
it is used to treat bronchitis, colds, sinusitis and other respiratory infections.

Medicinal properties of eucalyptus:

The parts used are the leaves from which the essential oil is extracted. 
Its leaves contain several active substances, including eucalyptol and myrtle. 
Thanks to its expectorant and antiseptic properties, eucalyptus is an excellent remedy 
to fight against inflammation and respiratory tract infection, especially in cases of colds, 
bronchitis, sinusitis or influenza. Today the World Health Organization has recognized 
the benefits of eucalyptus.

Several forms of eucalyptus:

Eucalyptus is found in dried leaf forms to prepare infusions, tincture or fluid extract 
to ingest and essential oil. Eucalyptus is thus in the form of essential oil with several 
types of eucalyptus oil that is to say eucalyptus oil lemon, menthol, radiate, globular 
and multiple bracts. These essential oils are prohibited during the entire period of pregnancy, 
as well as in children less than 6 years of age.

Use of eucalyptus essential oil:

The essential oil of eucalyptus radish is the easiest to use of all essential oils of eucalyptus, 
because it is devoid of toxicity and very well tolerated. But it is not recommended during 
the first three months of pregnancy.

The benefits of eucalyptus:

Eucalyptus is used in the treatment of asthma in addition to steroids. 
Eucalyptus treats inflammations of the respiratory tract. 
It relieves rheumatic pains and helps maintain good oral hygiene. 
It treats sore throat, headache, neuralgic pain, ears, sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, 
skin infections, urinary tract infections, and pushes away the biting insects. 

How to use eucalyptus internally:

To treat a cold, inflammation and a respiratory infection; infuse 2 to 3 grams of dried 
eucalyptus leaves in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes and drink in two cups a day. 
Tincture; take 10 to 15 ml twice a day. Fluid extracts; take 2 to 3 ml twice a day. 
Essential oil of eucalyptus; take 2 to 6 drops a day, but it is essential to consult a qualified 
aroma-therapist before taking eucalyptus essential oil internally, also avoiding giving it 
to children or women in pregnancies. 

How to use eucalyptus externally:

To treat an inflammation and infection of the respiratory tract; mix 15 to 20 drops 
of eucalyptus essential oil in 25 ml of vegetable oil of your choice, then rub your chest 
with this mixture two to three times a day. 
For inhalation; pour 4 to 6 drops of essential oil in 150 ml of boiling water and cover 
the head and inhale the vapors of the preparation and repeat three times a day. 
Treatment of sore throat with gargle; infuse 2 to 3 grams of dried leaves in 100 ml 
of boiling water for 10 minutes and rinse mouth or gargle with this mixture 
two to three times daily. 
Oral hygiene by mouth rinses; dilute 2 to 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil in 5 ml 
of alcohol and add 50 ml of water, make a mouthwash two to three times a day. 
Treatment of rheumatic pain by friction; pour 15 to 20 drops of eucalyptus 
essential oil in 25 drops of vegetable oil and rub the painful joints, three times a day.
Treatment of headache by friction; pour 1 to 2 drops of essential oil in a few drops 
of vegetable oil, rub the temples and forehead, avoiding the eyes.
