Main conceptions of cleaner production;
What are the advantages of Cleaner production?
What is cleaner production?
Cleaner production is defied by UNEP or United Nations of environmental
programs, as the continuous application of an integrated environmental strategy
to processes, products, and services to increase efficiency, and reduce risks
to humans and environment. This definition has been used for all programs
related to the promotion of cleaner production and still continues to be a
valid definition.
Aims of cleaner production:
Cleaner
production is intending to minimize wastes and emissions out of industrial
processes through source reduction strategies and then maximize production
output. Improvements of organization and technology can help to suggest better
choices in use of materials and energy and to avoid waste generation of water,
gaseous, emissions, and noises.
Advantages of cleaner production:
1.
Cleaner production is the best practice to integrate strategy that
maximizes profits by making more efficient uses of inputs, such as energy,
water, and raw materials.
2.
Adopting cleaner production should make it possible to minimize wastes
and pollutions at source.
3.
Cleaner production is the most important key instrument for carbon
dioxide emission reductions and an effective way to mitigate risks which are
causing and accelerating the climate change.
Interdependence economic and environmental systems:
The confluence of global economic and environmental crisis that has
been known in the recent years might consolidate the understanding of the
interdependence between economics and the environmental systems and thus
provides the driving forces to international efforts to promote the favorable
transition for more sustainable industrial system that is the Green industry
and the Green economy.
Production efficiency:
Can be
reached through optimization of productive uses of natural resources such as
materials, water, and energy at all stages of the production cycles.
Environmental management:
Can be
realized through minimization of the adverse and unfavorable impacts of
industrial production systems on nature and the environment.
Human development:
Is
achieved through minimization of risks to people and communities and support to
their development.
Main conceptions of cleaner production:
1.
Substitution of raw and auxiliary materials, particularly renewable
materials and energy.
2.
Increase useful life of auxiliary materials and process liquids, by
avoiding drag in, drag out, contamination.
3.
Improve control and automatisation.
4.
Reuse of wastes, either internal or external.
5.
Low waste processes and technology.
