What are the principles of rural development?
What are the basic actions of rural development?
What are rural areas?
Rural areas; nearly almost all countries in the world have rural areas,
which are lands and large areas, lived by peasants and countrymen, who work
generally in agriculture, breeding, fishing, etc…
The main features of rural life:
In most countries the features of rural life are the lack of
infrastructures, low life expectancy, and low productivity, high rates of
infant mortality, illnesses, malnutrition, and illiteracy combined to
discourage rural economic growth.
Rural development:
Rural development refers
obviously, to the increasing of productivity and improving the quality and
standards of living in rural areas, as well as the economic, well being of people
finding themselves in relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas.
Practice and principles of rural development:
Rural development has traditionally focused on the exploitation of
land incentive natural resources, like agriculture and forestry.
1.
However the great changes in global production networks and also the
increased urbanization have influenced the character of rural areas.
2.
Increasingly tourism, niche manufacturers, and recreation have replaced
resource extraction and agriculture as dominant economic drivers.
3.
The need for rural communities to approach development from a wider
perspective has created more focus on a broad range of development goals rather
than merely creating incentive for agricultural or resource based businesses.
4.
Education, entrepreneurship, physical and social infrastructures all
play an important role in developing rural regions.
5.
Rural development is also characterized by its emphasis on locally
produced economic development strategies.
6.
Rural areas are highly distinctive from one to another as in contrast to
urban regions, which have many similarities.
7.
For this reason there is a large variety of rural development approaches
used globally.
The basic actions of rural development:
Mainly and mostly actions for rural development are the aim for
social and economic development of the rural areas, some like:
1.
Renewal villages as an instrument of developing the lifestyle of
communities living in these areas are good examples.
2.
Rural development programs are usually top down from the local or regional
authorities, regional development agencies, NGOs, national governments, or
international development organizations.
3.
The term of rural development is not limited to the issues for
developing countries.
4.
In realty, many of the developed countries have very active rural
development programs.
The role of local populations:
1.
The main aims of rural developing policy are to develop the undeveloped
villages.
2.
Rural development means finding the ways to improve the rural lives with
participation of the rural people themselves so as to meet the required need of
the rural area.
3.
The outsider may not understand the setting, culture, language, and
other things prevalent in the local area.
4.
Thus, the people themselves have to participate in their sustainable
rural development; they should bring about endogenous initiatives for
development.
